Economic growth in the Kyrgyz Republic declined to 3.5% in 2015 from 4.0% in 2014 as slower expansion in industry offset gains in agriculture and services. Growth is projected to plunge to 1.0% in 2016 as the external environment weakens before recovering to 2.0% in 2017 with some improvement in the Russian Federation and other trade partners. 

As a landlocked economy with a limited domestic market, the Kyrgyz Republic would benefit greatly from deeper regional integration, given its important energy export potential, as well as good regional trade and transit position.
